Ian Somerhalder Talks Marriage Plans (Say What?!) and His Love Life on The Vampire Diaries

Ian Somerhalder "will be" getting married!
But wait, before you "Somerhalics" fall to your knees in complete cardiac arrest, please note that there was a crucial follow-up word: "Eventually."
Sorry, couldn't resist delivering the news that way, because that's precisely how Ian (inadvertantly) threw me for a loop during our most recent interview, at San Diego Comic-Con. He was there, of course, to promote the upcoming sixth season of The Vampire Diaries, with co-stars Paul Wesley, Nina Dobrev and Kat Graham.
While in a silly and yet heated debate about "hate sex"—you had to be there, and you can by clicking on the video above!—Ian referenced that although he isn't married, "I will be. I will be."
When asked for clarification as to whether we missed some sort of engagement news, Ian laughed and set the record straight: "I mean eventually, in my life! No, I mean eventually."
Now, unless you are living under a rock, you know Ian has been romantically linked as of late to Nikki Reed, and spotted out looking affectionate with her recently. So, I had to ask, could he check a box just real quick about his romantic status?  "Single," "Taken" or "It's Complicated?"
Check the video above for his response. As well as (far more importantly, ammIright TVD fans?! ), how Ian and Kat both feel about the possibility of a "Bamon" (Bonnie and Damon) romance for season five.
READ: Vampire Diaries scoop from Comic-Con!
Fun fact: One of them thinks they have "so much chemistry," and the other thinks they have "NO chemistry" whatsoever.
One thing is certain: They don't see eye to eye!
Also, you know you want the latest from "Sexy Wesley" (Paul Wesley), so we're throwing that video in here, too.
The Vampire Diaries' sixth season (with Bonnie and Damon sitting in, not a tree, but another dimension) begins Oct. 2 on the CW.
Don't forget to watch the 3 videos above!

Demi Lovato to Appear on Nick Jonas' New Album!

Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas JKING/FAMEFLYNET PICTURES
Nick Jonas is taking his relationship with Demi Lovato to another level.
Following his stint as the musical and creative director of the "Skyscraper" singer's Neon Light Tour, I can exclusively reveal that a duet with Lovato will appear on Jonas' upcoming solo album.
"We did one for my record," Jonas told me of the untitled song and album (set for release in the fall). "It's a great song that we both love. Her voice is just amazing on it. She's the real deal. It's the perfect fit for this record."
Jonas actually made a surprise appearance during Lovato's opening night performance of Neon Lights in Vancouver, Canada to perform three songs together. Lovato revealed last month that the two wrote a song together, but they weren't sure what they were going to do with it.

While we have to wait to hear the Jonas-Lovato collaboration, we're happy to report that the video for Jonas' first single, "Chains," is finally here. It was released this morning.
Shot in downtown L.A. earlier this month, the steamy video features Sean Penn and Robin Wright's daughter Dylan Penn in her music video debut.
"Dylan and I have mutual friends and we were looking for someone for the video," Jonas said. "We were wracking our brains for someone interesting and cool and our friends said, 'Dylan would be great.'
"We were all floored by the idea," he continued. "She came in and she killed it."
Jonas said he was careful not to go overboard in the sex department. "I think the important thing for the video is that is has an underlining tone of sexiness that isn't gratuitous and in your face," he explained. "There's more to the song than that."
NEWS: Look at Nick's crazy big biceps!
Island
In the song, he sings, "Gave you my heart, but you took my soul. You got me in chains, you got me in chains for your love."
While Jonas didn't write "Chains," he said, "I found my way to connect to the song. I found it was really true and real. For me, it embodies that feeling of being trapped in a love that is kind of doomed."
And yes, Jonas said he plans on touring in support of the album. Plans will be firmed up once he finishes shooting the first season of his new DIRECTV series, Kingdom.

Katy Perry Talks Kim Kardashian's Big in Rolling Stone

Peggy Sirota/Rolling Stone
Katy Perry is sounding off on all that controversy surrounding her big-bootied backup dancers.
The 29-year-old singer got some heat earlier this summer for featuring backup dancers in her tour that were dressed as mummies with giant padded butts. Some called the costumes racist while others thought they were just harmless getups.
"As far as the mummy thing, I based it on plastic surgery," Perry explains in the latest issue of Rolling Stone. "Look at someone like Kim Kardashian or Ice-T's wife, Coco. Those girls aren't African-American. But it's actually a representation of our culture wanting to be plastic, and that's why there's bandages and it's mummies. I thought that would really correlate well together...It came from an honest place. If there was any inkling of anything bad, then it wouldn't be there, because I'm very sensitive to people."

"I guess I'll just stick to baseball and hot dogs, and that's it," she added. "I know that's a quote that's gonna come to f--k me in the ass, but can't you appreciate a culture? I guess, like, everybody has to stay in their lane? I don't know."
Cultural controversy aside, the Rolling Stone cover girl also opened up about motherhood and wanting to have children in the future. "I want to be doing that in the right time," she says. "And that's not in the next two years, you know? Maybe it's in a five-year plan, but I need to really be able to focus 100 percent of my attention on it. I don't really want to take the child on tour."
"I don't need a dude," the singer added. "I mean, Neil [Patrick Harris] and David [Burtka], their twins are beautiful. It's 2014! We are living in the future; we don't need anything. I don't think I'll have to, but we'll see. I'm not anti-men. I love men. But there is an option if someone doesn't present himself.

Motivation, Letter From a Child: Don’t Be Realistic!

Imagine you received this letter from a child:

“Hello,
I will become a president.
I know … I know.
You’re thinking I’m a naive kid. You won’t believe in me or in my ability to reach that lofty goal. You’re laughing at me and thinking I’m like all kids who say things they don’t really mean. But I want you to know one little thing.

I’m proud of my childish way of thinking. And I mean what I’m saying. I want and will be a president. You adults spoil your lives with your dull and dumb way of thinking.
You adults spoil your lives when you become afraid of everything and play it safe.
You adults spoil your lives when you worry about everything.
You adults spoil your lives when you take it too seriously.
You adults spoil your lives when you try and be Realistic!

I was born differently.
I was born joyful to enjoy every moment.
I was born courageous to try everything.
I was born persistent to get what I want.
I was born to speak from the heart.

And I’m not shy of telling everyone what I feel is really important to me.
I don’t want to become realistic like you.
I don’t want to give up on my dreams.
I want to play it big, not to play it safe.
I love and believe in the beauty of my dream.
I will become a president.

The Rock & Roll Hall, Fame Winners and Losers

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame – the entity that honors ABBA over Ted Nugent – announced this year’s inductees today. While the lineup includes some obvious first-ballot choices among its mid-’80s nominees, like Guns N’ Roses and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, it also honors Nuge-baiting acts like the Beastie Boys and lite-rock songstress Laura Nyro, so it’s sure to be a controversial year. Here’s a look at some of the winners and losers of the Class of 2011.

Golden age of hip-hop loser: Eric B. and Rakim helped transition hip-hop from the “I went to the hat store and I bought myself a hat” style of lyricism in its early days into the sophisticated form we know today. Even so, they’ll have to continue resting on the plaudits of the huge number of contemporary artists who cite them as an influence — in their first year of eligibility, the Hall’s voters opted to pass on the duo.

Golden age of hip-hop winner: The Beastie Boys have demonstrated more staying power than anybody else in rap, so it’s not a shock that they stormed into the Hall the first time their name came up. Their influence on the direction of the genre can’t be traced as directly as that of Rakim, but isn’t it time we gave something to white people?

Motivation, 7 Ways to Bounce Back From Life’s Challenges

In life, stuff happens. People get sick.  The IRS calls. Then, just when you think it can’t get any worse, the dog throws up on your shoes.
And that’s before you’ve left for work. What do you do when you don’t know what to do anymore? Here are ten ways for you to develop your resiliency – your ability to bounce back from the challenges in life.

1. Acceptance
Ugh. People hate it when I talk about acceptance because they equate acceptance with giving up. Actually, acceptance has more to do with giving in than giving up. When life throws you a curveball, your immediate response is usually to resist what is happening. This is a form of denial, which is okay for awhile, but at some point, you need to see the situation for what it is and go with it rather than resist it. The key is to accept life as it is, rather than what it should be.
Acceptance is a big topic that needs its own article, but for now, here are a few more components:
  • Being okay with emotions, even when they’re “bad.” This means it’s okay to feel however you want about a situation and not saying to yourself, “I need to keep a stiff upper lip” or “I guess I shouldn’t be angry about this.”
  • Realizing that accepting a situation doesn’t necessarily mean that you like it. I think this causes a lot of confusion for people, too. “How am I supposed to like the fact that I’m losing my house to foreclosure?” You don’t, but you do need to accept the reality of the foreclosure so you can develop strategies to address the situation.
  • Being able to hold two opposing thoughts or feelings at the same time. This one is kind of tricky, but it has to do with acknowledging opposites like “I love my kid AND right now I can’t stand him because he’s being defiant.” Or, “I’m relieved that my dad died and is now out of pain AND I want him back.”
2. Social support
Even though you might think you need to “tough this out alone,” it really doesn’t help when you’re trying to overcome a problem. Going it alone leads to feeling isolated and immersed in your problem. You have people who love you and want to help, even if it’s just to provide a listening ear. Be okay with sharing your circumstances with at least one close friend or family member.

Entertainment, New Radiohead Songs Set for Next Week

In 2011, Radiohead released their eighth studio album The King of Limbs, handed out newspapers to promote it, played some intimate shows in New York City, didn’t play for Occupy Wall Street (then did) and released a lengthy remix album. What else is left? Next week, two songs from the Limbs sessions that appeared in Radiohead’s From the Basement concert broadcast will hit your favorite digital retailer:

“The Daily Mail” and “Staircase.” Both tracks have been in live rotation this year and were commonly thought of as songs that could’ve bolstered Limbs standings within the Radiohead community. Right now, our (unscientific) calculations places Limbs somewhere between The Pyramid Song EP and Hail to the Thief in terms of likability.

We suggest splicing these songs into your own copy and create that perfect version of Limbs you’ve always dreamed about.

The King of Limbs — From the Basement arrives January 31 on DVD/Blu Ray.

Scarlett Johansson Debuts New Pixie Haircut

Scarlett Johansson, Romain Dauriac Splash News
Scarlett Johansson's baby bump is growing by the day, but that's not what caught our attention when we saw this photo of her out and about with fiancé Romain Dauriac in New York City Tuesday afternoon.
Of course, the first thing we noticed was that hair! Apparently, Scarlett took the plunge and chopped off her hair in favor of an ultra-short pixie cut.
Scarlett went for a bob earlier this year, but clearly she wanted something even shorter and more summery. The answer? An ear-length, close-cropped cut. During her city stroll with Romain, Scarlett sported a white tee, baggy black overalls and silver-rimmed shades.
NEWS: Happy National Lipstick Day! Which celeb has the punchiest pout?
Scarlett has kept a relatively low profile since the announcement of her pregnancy back in March. Earlier this month the Lucy star was spotted leaving her Upper East Side apartment in New York City clad in a red maternity top. She was sporting a short cut then, but not nearly this short.
Is this Scarlett's new "mom haircut"? The 29-year-old actress and soon-to-be-mother can pull off almost any style—from a pixie to a bob to long, romantic waves. Although, admittedly, this short cut is a bit of a departure from her trademark "bombshell" vibe.
What do you think of Scarlett's new pixie haircut?
